• From Kylie’s mom:

My daughter was in a traditional preschool before enrolling in East West Montessori. She has a late (January) birthday and felt the children in her current preschool class were “babies”. When my husband and I inquired about moving her up they told us she must be able to write her name, which she couldn’t quite do yet but was ready in so many other ways to be with the 4 year olds. As a result she became increasingly less motivated to participate at school. This caused us to look at other preschool options for her. After much research we decided on a Montessori education for her and after several encouraging recommendations from other parents we chose East West.

The Montessori Method goes beyond flash cards and random memorization. They educate and nurture the whole child, giving children confidence and self-descipline that is essential to all future learning. They teach children the skills they need to be lifelong learners and most importantly they don’t discourage the child’s natural desire to learn by forcing them to sit still and memorize random words and math facts. They facilitate learning but still let the child lead and, to me, that is priceless. This was a major factor in our decision to choose a Montessori education. Without nurturing the whole child almost all future learning will be met wih some resistance. However, if the child is able to lead and is encouraged when showing an interest in something, the sky is the limit for how much they are able to learn.

The other attractive aspect of Montessori education for us was the multi-age classroom. After her previous experience my daughter was a little apprehensive about preschool. With the multi-age classroom she was mentored by 6 years old, then 5 years old, then 4 year old peers until she was doing lessons on her own. Not only did East West gave her back her self confidence but they let her choose her path of interest and she is happy and excited to go to school. I’m so impressed with the difference in he
